This play explores the lives of five women who work in a chicken processing plant. It is loosely based on events surrounding the tragic fire at the Imperial Foods plant in Hamlet, N.C. where on September 3, 1991, twenty-five workers burned to death behind locked doors. The play tells the tale of corporate greed running amuck as workers endure hellacious working conditions to provide for their families in the so-called “New South.”
